Got little ones with sensory issues who want to see the world? Well, their departures just got a whole lot easier.
The King Fahd International Airport in Dammam has introduced a brand-new sensory room.
Located in the departure hall, Dammam International Airport sensory room was developed in association with Saudi Aramco and the King Salman Center for Disability Research.
The aim of the new room is to improve the airport’s accessibility for differently-abled travelers.
Following the inaugurations of the King Khalid International Airport’s sensory room in 2021 and King Fahd International Airport’s in 2025, it has been confirmed that Jeddah will also be getting one in the coming years.

Sensory rooms for autism are calm, carefully designed spaces that help people feel grounded and in control. Filled with soothing lights, gentle sounds, soft textures, and comforting scents, these rooms create a safe environment where users can unwind, explore, and better understand their sensory needs.
More than just a relaxing retreat, sensory rooms support emotional balance, stress relief, and skill development. Each space can be tailored to the individual, allowing them to discover what helps them relax, focus, or re-energize, turning sensory exploration into a powerful tool for self-regulation and growth.
