Now, the city has laid down its bibs to finally welcome Chotto Matte.

Three years following the exciting announcement of the Nikkei restaurant debuting in Riyadh, Chotto Matte is officially coming to Riyadh at the end of this month (yes, that soon).

Celebrating the best of authentic and innovative Japanese and Peruvian cuisine, the global brand has stylish restaurants in the world’s most influential cities including London, Miami, and Doha.

Chotto Matte Riyadh

Kurt Zdesar, the founder and owner, came up with the idea in 2013, and it keeps developing, pushing the limits and standards of the restaurant industry.

With its urban flare and cutting-edge design elements, Chotto Matte creates a memorable atmosphere that is lively and electrifying. It’s an immersive experience with something new to discover everywhere you look, from the live entertainment and DJs to the blazing robata grill and sushi counter.

Chotto Matte works with like-minded creatives, artists, fashion designers, and others in an ongoing pursuit of artistic influence. Each Chotto Matte restaurant reflects artistic inspiration through special features, one-of-a-kind art walls, and carefully chosen materials such shou sugi ban wood and lava stone. We cannot wait to see what unique flare is brought to the Riyadh location.

The stylish restaurant is set to open in Riyadh’s ever popular KAFD which recently welcomed the likes of Zuma.

The menu has been inspired by the founder and owner’s passion for Nikkei cuisine. It blends Japanese and Peruvian flavors artfully and combines traditional and modern culinary techniques.

You can expect staples like ceviche, BBQ, sushi, and more on the menu.

Signature items include the pollo den miso (chicken marinated in miso paste), sato maki sushi (yellowtail and salmon with red pepper lime soy, flamed at the table), black cod aji miso (cod with a chilli-miso and yuzu marinade), and cordero Nikkei (lamb anticucho with pear and yellow tomato salsa).

Food and Riyadh

2024 saw a massive spike in foodie events in the city. From the first-ever Eats and Beats where luxury was the name of the game to the family-friendly KAFD food festival, Riyadh saw some real momentum in the food scene. There were also notable openings like the first-ever D&G café in Diriyah. Speaking of Diriyah, the luxe desert dining experience Shetana is also back in the city of Earth.
