Nothing hits the way a Saudi date does.
You can hardly walk into shops without being offered a decadent platter of the national fruit along with a small finjan of aromatic coffee. It is practically tradition and a beloved pick-me-up in the Kingdom.
So, it really is no surprise that the Diriyah Dates Festival is happening right now.
On until next week, the celebrations are in full swing as people from all over flock to Diriyah to learn (and sample) more.
Organized by the National Centre for Palms and Dates. this is one incredibly sweet festival that you cannot miss.
Diriyah Dates Festival 2025

In Saudi Arabia, dates aren’t just fruit, they’re a symbol of hospitality, tradition, and pride. These sweet gems have been a staple since ancient times (we’re talking 7000 B.C.!), mentioned 22 times in the Holy Quran, and praised by the Prophet Muhammad, Peace be Upon Him, himself.
Today, Saudi Arabia is the world’s third-largest date producer, harvesting 800,000 metric tons a year, each one hand-picked and savored at every ripening stage, from crunchy green to soft and sun-dried. Especially during Ramadan, dates are the go-to fast-breaker, packing a perfect punch of energy, fiber, and tradition in every bite.
