In a bold step toward preserving and sharing the cultural tapestry of the Kingdom, Asaan Museum and Art of Heritage have signed a 30-year collaboration agreement.

Art of Heritage is a non-profit cultural initiative affiliated with AlNahda Society. This visionary partnership is set to bring Saudi Arabia’s rich ethnographic history to the public eye—many for the first time.

Asaan Museum and Art of Heritage: A cultural alliance rooted in authenticity

Signed in Riyadh on April 30, 2025, this long-term agreement solidifies Asaan’s role as a major cultural institution in Saudi Arabia. The museum will take custodianship of 57,000 artifacts, including textiles, jewelry, tools, manuscripts, and photographs—each piece a window into the Saudi Way of Life.

“This is more than a collection. It’s a living memory of who we are,” says a spokesperson from Asaan.

Before the artifacts are physically transferred, Asaan will lead a comprehensive digitization project to ensure every item is catalogued, preserved, and made accessible through digital platforms.

Asaan Museum and Art of Heritage: An immersive experience of Saudi heritage

At its core, Asaan’s mission is storytelling. With this collaboration, the museum promises an interactive and immersive experience where visitors can witness the cultural depth of the Kingdom across all regions. Through education, community engagement, and artisanal initiatives, Asaan connects the past with the present, and traditions with future generations.

Asaan Museum and Art of Heritage: Key Features of the agreement:

  • Digitization and cataloging of 57,000 unique items
  • Integration of the collection into educational programs
  • Community-driven workshops based on traditional crafts
  • Future development of products inspired by heritage

Who Is Art of Heritage?

Originally established by AlNahda Society, Art of Heritage became an independent nonprofit focused on reviving traditional Saudi crafts and empowering local artisans, especially women. Their work has helped preserve intricate practices such as embroidery, weaving, and jewelry-making—crafts that are at risk of disappearing without proper documentation and support.

Their collection spans:

  • 3,000 pieces of traditional jewelry
  • 3,000+ regional garments
  • 40,000 historical photographs and tools
  • 1,000 manuscripts and vintage books
  • Audio-visual recordings, maps, and more

A Museum for the Future

Asaan Museum, set to open in the coming years, is poised to become one of the Kingdom’s cultural powerhouses. It won’t just display history—it will invite visitors to live it, touch it, and be part of it. From sensory exhibits to community outreach, the museum’s future is as dynamic as the stories it will tell.

With the Art of Heritage collection as its beating heart, Asaan promises a legacy-driven space that fuels national pride and creativity.
