Inspiration found: AlUla Arts Festival is back

Where creative minds converge.

Art has a deep significance in Saudi’s culture with the from of self-expression being incorporated into everything from the FIFA 2034 bid to the Expo 2030 campaign.

Riyadh’s JAX District is affectionately known as the heart of art in Riyadh while Jeddah’s Art Promenade has sculptures dotting the walkway every which way.

The ancient city of AlUla is no different with AlUla Arts Festival making a return early next year.

The fourth edition will take over key locations throughout the city and will include exhibitions, workshops, music shows and more.

The curated programme will run for one month and bring tonnes of immersive art experiences that will celebrate the fusion of ancient traditions with contemporary art.

So get ready to feel the inspiration flow through you. Here is everything about the returning art festival.

AlUla Arts Festival 2025

With exhibitions, dance and music performances, workshops, talks, and specially planned programs spread across four weeks in AlUla’s Arts District, the AlUla Arts Festival is back for its fourth year. Experience the impact of pieces created by well-known local and worldwide artists in a unique gathering of creative minds that presents art viewpoints that are unmatched.

The festival will take over multiple locations like the Al Jadidah art district as well as the Old Town. You will also be able to check out awesome installations at ATHR Gallery, Bayt Al Hams by Tarek Atoui, and Madrasat Addeera X Design Space.

The event will kick off on Thursday, 16 January and will end on Saturday, 22 February.

Most of the offerings will be free, but tickets for the paid ones will drop closer to the starting dates.

This year’s festival will focus on Thikra: Night of Remembering, a site-specific performance in Wadi AlFann, featuring dancers and an original music set against AlUla’s landscapes. The site will also be showcasing art exhibitions commissioned.

If photography is your medium, get ready to capture your excitement frames because the Al Jadidah Arts District will be doing a public photography exhibition. Want to improve? There will be daily classes, talks, and workshops.

The festival will also do live music at the AlUla Music Hub, open-air film screenings at Cinema Al Jadidah, and public art programming at Madrasat Addeera.

Art and Saudi

The Kingdom’s art scene is unmatched with the capital city doing annual events like Noor Riyadh, the largest light art festival in the world. There is also the Diriyah Art Futures which is the first-ever new media focused gallery in the MENA region and is currently hosting its first-ever art exhibition until February 2025.
