Bilory ArtHaus has officially opened its doors to the public with the much-anticipated “Modernity Roots” exhibition, launched on September 29, 2024.
This new art space, located on Madinah Al Munawarah Road, aims to redefine art appreciation in Jeddah and the wider Middle East.
Bilory ArtHaus aims to bring in art lovers and collectors, becoming an important part of the Middle East’s culture and art scene. The gallery blends Saudi Arabia’s rich history with modern art, creating a welcoming space for both artists and visitors.
The opening event was a vibrant celebration, featuring an impressive light show and various activities, as well as presenting guests with white roses, dates and Arabic coffee at the entrance. This exhibition not only showcases art but also serves as a cultural milestone, connecting traditional Saudi heritage with today’s artistic expression.
“Modernity Roots” features the works of notable Saudi artists Ahmad Bin Faisal Al Saud (AFM) and Heba Ismail. Ahmad Bin Faisal Al Saud is known for his whimsical camel paintings that mix pop art with playful abstraction, while Heba’s piece, “The Holy Grail,” uses cubist techniques to explore themes of cultural identity and reflection. Together, their works focuses on the essence of modern Saudi culture.
Sana Duhaiby, the exhibition curator, expressed her excitement: “I’m thrilled to present ‘Modernity Roots,’ which explores the heart of Saudi culture. The works of Ahmed Bin Faisal Al Saud and Heba illuminate the foundations of Saudi identity, and I believe this exhibition will resonate deeply with visitors.”
“Modernity Roots” will be open from September 29 to November 15, 2024, with visiting hours from 5 PM to 10 PM Sundays to Thursdays, and admission is free.
