The Board of Directors of the Sports Path Foundation, chaired by Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, has approved the designs for the Sports Tower, one of the prominent landmarks of the Sports Path project, on Prince Mohammed bin Salman Road in Riyadh.
The tower is set to become the tallest sports tower in the world and a key feature of the Sports Path project, playing a pivotal role in achieving the goals of Saudi Vision 2030. It aims to enhance the quality of life in Riyadh, aspiring to rank among the top 10 global city economies. The Sports Path project represents a comprehensive and transformative destination encompassing all aspects of life, bridging towards a prosperous urban future for Riyadh. This contributes significantly to boosting Saudi Arabia’s economy and enhancing its international standing as a leading sports hub.
The Sports Path project will span over 135 kilometers, making it the world’s largest linear park, featuring safe, tree-lined paths for pedestrians, cyclists, and equestrians. It includes diverse sports facilities, more than 4.4 million square meters of open green spaces, around 50 sports venues, distinctive artistic landmarks, and over 3 million square meters of investment areas. The Sports Tower stands as an iconic structure and promising landmark, the first of its kind globally, designed to meet the aspirations of Vision 2030 by creating a sustainable urban environment that supports quality living. It signifies an exceptional rise in various sports fields, elevating ambitions and consolidating Saudi Arabia’s leading position internationally.
The tower will reach a height of 130 meters with an area of 84,000 square meters, featuring the world’s highest climbing wall at 98 meters and the tallest running track at 250 meters. It hosts exceptional sports facilities catering to over 30 sports disciplines, designed according to the highest standards to promote a sports culture and meet the needs of athletes, enthusiasts, and facilities for people with disabilities. The Sports Tower’s unique architectural design adheres to the urban code aesthetics of the Sports Path, derived from the Salmanian architectural principles blending tradition with modernity, establishing a distinctive landmark on Prince Mohammed bin Salman Road.
The project aims to achieve the Sports Path’s goals and enhance the quality of life in Riyadh by promoting sports participation and enabling a healthy lifestyle through providing quality facilities that enhance the sports culture for all community members.
The Sports Path project, launched by King Salman bin Abdulaziz on March 19, 2019, is one of Riyadh’s major initiatives. Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Chairman of the Board, leads the project, aiming to elevate Riyadh’s global ranking and transform it into a preferred global destination for living, contributing to achieving one of the key targets of Saudi Vision 2030 in promoting physical, mental, and social health, and building a community that enjoys a dignified life and a healthy lifestyle in a positive and attractive environment for Riyadh’s residents and visitors alike.
