7 Sports In Jeddah To Try – That Are Not Football, Swimming Or Basketball

Think you know Jeddah like the back of your hand? Trust me, there will always be something new to try, experience or see in the city. I personally find it difficult to keep up with the new activities and sports that spring up in the city every now and then.

So if you are one of those who are tired of the regular football, swimming, basketball or gym sessions, then this article is for you. Some of the sports in this list can be found at multiple locations; we have mentioned just one location for each sport that we believe is the best place to play and enjoy it.

Squash (Ittihad Club)
This addictive sport is the type that grows slowly on you. Play it regularly and it will perhaps replace football as your favorite sport. Squash makes for an excellent cardiovascular workout and is considered by many to be the number one health and fitness sport.

Badminton (Olympia)
This indoor sport is extremely popular among the Asian community, but of late has been spilling out to other communities as well. Flexibility, agility, concentration and fitness levels will all stand improved after regular playing. All you need is a person to play with you and before you know it you’ll be ready to challenge other regulars at the center.

Horse Riding (Jeddah Equestrian Club)
You get to soak up sun, learn a skill that you’ve always wanted to and enjoy the good old-fashioned horse ride. Though it may not qualify as a sport, unless you play polo or other equestrian disciplines such as dressage, it still manages to strengthen your muscles and improve your motor skills.
volleyball-1422833
Volleyball (Fitness Time)
Though it is not available in all Fitness Time centers, the ones it is in, volleyball is one of the most favored sports to play. A good sport to play after a grueling workout session.

MMA (Arena)
MMA has been gaining a lot of attention ever since the Desert Force Championship was held in 2014 in Jeddah. At Arena, proper technique and fitness training is provided to their members to help max out their MMA skills. This full combat sport is definitely not for the weak-hearted.

Table Tennis (Al Ahli)
Test your reflexes and focus. Table Tennis is a sport you can play for hours without it being taxing on your body. No strength building here, it’s good for pure enjoyment.

Tennis (Bayt Al Shabab)
You’ll come across many who are hooked to tennis on their television sets, but have never played it in real life. Bayt Al Shabab offers tennis along with a plethora of other sports at reasonable prices. One thing you have to keep in mind, before starting to play tennis is that it is not as easy as it looks. It can take months or even years before you can start to play long rallies.
